UV Printer Intake and Diagnostic Checklist
UV-print problems often involve ink delivery, printheads, curing, motion, environment, software, or maintenance history. Capture evidence before repeated cleanings or parts changes alter the symptom.

Protect the printheads: Do not allow heads to dry, use unapproved fluids, force ink through a head, expose UV-sensitive materials unnecessarily, or defeat covers and curing-lamp safety controls.
Identify the complete system
- Printer manufacturer, model, serial number when appropriate, age, and supplier.
- Printhead type and count, ink set and manufacturer, white or varnish channels, and ink expiration or installation dates.
- RIP software and version, operating system, connection method, and current color configuration.
- Chiller, vacuum table, circulation, degassing, negative-pressure, and curing-system details.
Describe the print defect
State whether the issue is missing nozzles, banding, overspray, color shift, adhesion, gloss, curing, head strikes, carriage errors, media feeding, communication, or complete loss of a channel. Explain whether it appears immediately, after warming, on one file, one color, one direction, or all production.
Collect objective evidence
- Current nozzle test and a known-good historical nozzle test when available.
- Photos of the printed defect, control messages, ink path, cap top, wiper, dampers, and affected head area.
- Media type, pretreatment, print mode, resolution, passes, layer configuration, lamp settings, and environmental temperature and humidity.
- Ink levels, circulation behavior, pressure readings when safely available, and maintenance-log dates.
Document recent events
Record head or damper replacement, ink change, long idle period, crash, power loss, firmware or RIP update, transport, environmental change, maintenance, flushing, or introduction of a new media or pretreatment.
Before requesting help
Save the problematic file and RIP settings, stop unnecessary cleaning cycles, protect the heads according to manufacturer guidance, and note any consumables or parts already used. Provide the exact business deadline without continuing production in a way that may cause additional damage.
