CNC Router Troubleshooting Intake Checklist
A CNC service request is easier to qualify when motion, spindle, control, tooling, and job-file information are separated.
Quick note: Stop the machine when motion is uncontrolled or guarding, tooling, or the spindle is unsafe.
Identify the machine and control
Provide the manufacturer, model, controller, drive system, spindle or router, software, power requirements, and installed accessories.
Classify the symptom
State whether the issue is homing, lost position, alarms, poor cut quality, spindle control, vacuum, tool changing, communication, or intermittent operation.
Capture operating evidence
Include alarm text, axis positions, photos, video from a safe distance, tooling, material, feeds and speeds, and a simple test file when appropriate.
Stop unsafe operation
Do not continue running a machine with uncontrolled motion, damaged tooling, failed guarding, electrical faults, smoke, or abnormal spindle noise.
