Laser Service Information to Collect Before Troubleshooting

Good laser troubleshooting begins with machine identification, a clear symptom, and safe baseline information.

Quick note: Laser systems can contain hazardous voltage, stored energy, invisible radiation, and moving machinery.

Identify the complete system

Record the manufacturer, model, serial number, laser source type, controller, software version, power requirements, cooling system, and recent modifications.

Describe the failure precisely

Note whether the problem involves power, motion, homing, firing, engraving quality, communication, cooling, exhaust, autofocus, or another subsystem.

Capture evidence safely

Photograph error messages, the control panel, wiring changes, test patterns, and relevant settings. Never defeat interlocks or expose high-voltage components for a photo.

Establish recent history

Include maintenance, crashes, transport, electrical events, software updates, replaced parts, and the last time the machine operated normally.
